The World Class Bucking Horse Association (WCBHA) is now established as a non-profit organization with the goal of giving horse breeders in all categories a place to compete and raise their animals’ values. “The breeders don’t necessarily have to be stock contractors and our futurity events this summer are going to start giving their horses a record. As a horse breeder, I’m involved so that down the road bucking horses will have as much value as bulls,” said Hank Franzen of Powder River Rodeo Co. based in Riverton, WY.
Franzen says seven events have been scheduled including one May 19 at the Fremont County Fairgrounds in Riverton. The competition is in one event – saddle bronc riding – rodeo’s classic endeavor. The Riverton “Born to Buck Classic” will start at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19. Wind River Casino & Hotel has signed on as a major sponsor.
Hank Franzen spoke with us today while driving back to Wyoming from the national circuit finals competition in Oklahoma City. There were a number of behind-the-scenes meetings in OK City and in one of them Franzen was elected to a position as a stock contractor representative on the PRCA Executive Council.
